What is event sampling? | When the observer records the number of times that the target behaviour occurs |
What is a strength of time sampling? | Allows for a better use of time since fewer observations are made |
Weakness of time sampling? | Not all behaviour of relevance to the investiagion will be counted if it occurse between the time frames allocated |
Strength of event sampling? | Every behaviour of interest to the reseracher will be counted from beginning through to the end |
Weakness of event sampling? | Possibility that behaviours can be missed becasue there is too much happening at the same time. It can be overcomed by recording the event or having inter-observer reliabiltiy. |
