They are artficial eye makers in Wiesbaden, Germany and in 1887 they fitted a protective glass shell to the eye of a patient who had a partial lid removal. They made lenses from blown glass. They also designed a lens for ptosis correction
FA Muller and Sons 1887
Made lathe cut lenses from molds. He devised a complete trial set that contains 21 lenses, and these lenses were afocal. The fittings were determined by fluorescein and white light
Carl Zeiss of Jena 1911
He improved the Zeiss lens by enlarging the series of the trial lenses. He also used a supplementary curve between the corneal and scleral component.
Leopold Heine 1930s
He observed that scleral lenses with more movement were better tolerated. And suspected that tear flow behind the lens was very important. Lastly, he added a supplementary limbal curve and fenestrations.
Joseph Dallos 1930s
Was founded in 1947, Stuttgart. And initially devoted to the advancement of glass, fluid lens scleral contact lenses. They also established a laboratory in Toronto and Detroit in 1949
