Question:

Talk in general about pteridophytes.

Author: H K

Answer:

They have stems, leaves and roots, they are vascular cryptogams, without flowers or seeds but have conductive tissues (xylem impregnated with lignin) Their development cycle is very similar to the one of bryophytes with one difference: perennial plant dominating the cycle to the sporophyte, while gametophyte or prothallus is small and has a limited life. Gametophyte is directly derived from the germination of spores. They have 3 tissue types, protective, ground and conductive tissues
