Author: Rajinder Kaur

Answer:

If they are prone to this (and in HF patients)- give potassium sparing diuretics with loop diuretics (to avoid hypokalaemia + the need for K supplements). Prostate If they have enlarged prostate and take loop diuretics- can’t pass urine as freely- can cause urinary retention (painful) Less likely if small doses or less potent diuretic used Need to determine that they have adequate urinary output before initiating treatment
