Acetylation

- Adding an acetyl group (neutralises charge on the amino acid lysine so DNA is less attracted) - Removes a bond between the histone + DNA, DNA less tightly wrapped - So transcription factors, therefore RNA pol., can more easily bind so gene expression is stimulated
