Question:

MOA OF STATINS

Author: LEIGHTON DWIGHT OBILLOS

Answer:

Competitive inhibitor of HMG CoA reductase which is a rate limiting step in cholesterol synthesis and this leads to inhibition of de novo cholesterol synthesis and they deplete the intracellular supply of cholesterol then depletion of intracellular cholesterol causes the cell to increase the number of cell surface LDL receptors and that promotes the uptake of LDL from the blood.
