Disadvantages of compression pumping:

- Used only for limited times during the day and therefore not appropriate for modification of scar formation - generally requires a static compression device to be used btw treatments - expensive to purchase unit or to pay for regular treatments in clinic - requires moderate comfort using machinery to apply - requires electricity - extremity can’t be used during treatment - pt can’t move during treatment - pumping motion of device may aggravate an acute condition
