During follicular phase estrogen secretion increases, during luteal both estrogen and progesterone are produced by corpus luteum. There are other steroids (testosterone, delta 4 and 17-OH-P) These control menstruation, uterine mucosa and modulate hypothalamic-hypophyseal axis.
