● It should always be a complete physical examination: from head to toes. ● Physical exam of the abdomen in supine position. ● Always end the physical exam with rectal touch = digital rectal exam (DRE) because there are many anal or rectal etiologies leading to acute abdominal pain. We should inspect the general status of the patient (calm, agitated, disoriented. pain moving this is peritonitis if agitated w/tachy then sepsis ● Vital signs should be investigated: blood pressure, pulse, temperature… ● Fever:- Constant low grade fever ? inflammatory condition. - High grade fever ? infection of ducts.
