• Primary (unstimulated) follicles contain resting (inactive) B cells • Secondary (stimulated) follicles contain activated B cells in a central region (germinal center) Marginal Zone: • Surrounds the primary follicle and the mantle zone of secondary follicles • Consists of a corona of mediumsized lymphoid cells with prominent pale cytoplasm
