Occurson the penis, female genitalia, urethra, and perianal areas ➢ Histologic features common to verrucae include : ▪ Epidermal hyperplasia : often undulant in character (so-called verrucous or papillomatous epidermal hyperplasia) ▪ Cytoplasmic vacuolization (koilocytosis) : preferentially involves the more superficial epidermal layers, producing halos of pallor surrounding infected nuclei. ▪ Infected cells also may demonstrate prominent keratohyalin granules and jagged eosinophilic intracytoplasmic protein aggregates as a result of impaired maturation
