What is HELLP syndrome?

Approximately 10% of the patients with severe preeclampsia develop the so-called “HELLP syndrome”: →elevated liver enzymes, →microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, →thrombocytopenia due to platelet consumption, →sometimes fullblown disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC).
