Voriconazole is approved for the treatment of invasive aspergillosis and has replaced amphotericin B as the treatment of choice for this indication. Voriconazole is also approved for treatment of serious infections caused by Scedosporium apiospermum and Fusarium species. It is a codrug of choice for treatment of invasive aspergillosis; some studies report greater efficacy than amphotericin B. Voriconazole is an alternative drug in candidemia with activity against some fluconazole-resistant organisms and in AIDS patients has been used in the treatment of candidial esophagitis and stomatitis
