The antipsychotic drugs can be used as tranquilizers to manage agitated and disruptive behavior, secondary to other disorders. Antipsychotics are used in combination with narcotic analgesics for treatment of chronic pain with severe anxiety. Also, risperidone and aripiprazole are now approved for the management of the disruptive behavior and irritability secondary to autism.
