Question:

III. CLASSIFICATION OF SEIZURES

Author: Suzuki

Answer:

Seizures have been categorized by site of origin, etiology, electrophysiologic correlation, and clinical presentation. The International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) developed a nomenclature for describing seizures. Seizures have been classified into two broad groups: partial (or focal), and generalized. A diagnosis may include classifying the seizure as partial or generalized epilepsy depending on the onset.
