level questions: Glacial Processes

QuestionAnswer
How can Glaciers Erode the Landscape; what Traits does it have to do so?-Glaciers are very Heavy, causing them to move Downwards -They also have layer of Melt Water, helping also the Glaciers to move; this is called Basal Slipping
What is: 1. Abrasion 2. Plucking 3. Freeze Thaw1. This is like in Rivers; Rocks are Scraping below the Glacier. Rock is Worn Away 2. Melt-Water is Frozen on the Rock, and as the Glacier moves, bits of the Rock is 'Plucked' Away 3. Water gets its way into the Cracks of Rocks, which is then Frozen in it. This would Expand and then Freeze which makes the Rock have more Pressure. Said Pressure is then Released when the Ice Thaws. Repeating this Process will make the Rock Weaker
What is Rotational Slip; Why does it Happen?-Ice, at the Top, does not Move in a Straight Line -Instead it does a Circular Momentum, which would then create a Hollow in the Landscape; this is a Corrie
What is Transportation, in Glacier Terms?-This is simply the Glacier moving Sediment, like Clay and Rocks, over a Large Distance
What exactly is Bulldozing?-This is when the Material is Transported at the Front of the Glacier, so called the Snout
What happens to the Material if it either Overloads the Glacier, or the Ice Melts?-Material is Deposited on the Floor of the Valley, leading to Moraines and Drumlins -These Deposits aren't really Arranged in Size and Weight, but however the Finer Material Spreads out into the Valley via Melt Water Streams. This actually sorts out the Material by Size, and in Layers. Found in the Front of the Glacier
