Question:

How can you find out speeds and moments?

Author: eric_galvao

Answer:

You can find it out in the Gears Ratio. If we had one with 24 teeth, and another one with 8 teeth, You have a ratio of 24:8 which can equal 3:1. This is telling us that for one turn the big gear does, the smaller one does 3 turns. Moment = Force x Distance. The force is going to be the same but the Distance is also dependent on the ratio. The Ratio of Moment is equal to the Ratio of Teeth. That means for our example its also 3:1 so the Moment gets Tripled in this case.
