Question:

How does motion sickness trigger vomitting?

Author: Jade Ann Paterson

Answer:

Disturbances of the semi-circular canals or the vestibule will send electrical signals to the vestibular nuclei in the brain to stimulate histamine and muscarinic receptors via the vestibular/cochlea nerve (VIII- 8) , signal gets passed on to the CTZ then to the vomiting centre to trigger vomiting reflex
