Why do Muslims believe Tawhid is important?

Muslims believe Tawhid is important because it’s the central foundation for the Islamic statement of faith, the Shahadah. Which reads: “There is no God but Allah, and Mohammed is the prophet of Allah”, this is said repeatedly throughout a Muslims life. It is often the first phrase a Muslim hears at birth and the last phrase they hear before death and is repeated every day in Muslim prayers.
