The two replication forks approach one another. They fuse in a region opposite to oriC, the terminus region: a ‘replication fork trap’. It has a series of DNA sites at which arrest (or pausing) of fork progression occurs. Terminator sites are polar, so arrest a fork from one direction but not the other.
