Question:

6. As teachers, what can we do to help with childhood obesity?

Author: Ahmad Danial

Answer:

1. Providing beneficial information and our own modelling. For example, we inform students to expand their understanding of what constitutes a healthy diet & healthy eating habits (Leatherdale, 2013; Powers, Bindler, Goetz, & Daratha, 2010). 2. Modeling these habits, exercising, and making an effort to control our own weight can help even more. 3. Highlight the importance of recess, free play, and time to spend on moderate-to-vigorous physical activity. It provides physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development for children (Mathieson & Banerjee, 2010).
